Khammam is a state assembly constituency in the state of Telangana and is part of Khammam Parliamentary constituency. Khammam is located in Khammam district. It is categorized as a urban seat.
In 2018, Ajay Kumar Puvvada of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi won the seat by defeating Nama Nageswara Rao of the Telugu Desam with a margin of 10991 votes. Puvvada got 102,760 votes whereas Rao got 91,769 votes. Total 15 candidates contested in the 2018 assembly elections from this constituency.
Puvvada was also the winner from this seat in the year 2014, when he defeated TDP’s Thummala Nageswar Rao by 5,609 votes. Puvvada got 70, 251 votes and Rao received 64, 642 votes. In 2009, Thummala Nageswara Rao of TDP emerged victorious with 55,555 votes. Jalagam Venkat Rao of IND came second with 53, 058 votes.
There are a total of 2,38,516 voters in the seat, which includes 1,16,291 male voters, and 1,22,194 female voters. In the 2018 Telangana elections, Khammam recorded a voter turnout of 73.98%. In 2014 the turnout was 70.39%.
