Yellandu is a state assembly constituency in the state of Telangana and is part of Mahabubabad Parliamentary constituency. Yellandu is in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and located in South Telangana region of the state. It is categorized as a rural seat and is reserved under ST category.
In 2018, Haripriya Banoth of the Indian National Congress defeated Kanakaiah Koram of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi with a margin of 2887 votes. Haripriya Banoth secured 70,644 votes while Koram managed to get 67, 757 votes. There were 16 candidates who contested in 2018 from this constituency.
In 2014, Koram Kanakaiah of Indian National Congress defeated TDP’s Banothu Haripriya by a margin of 11, 507 votes, when he got 44, 945 votes and Haripriya received 33, 438 votes. In 2009, Abbaiah Vooke of TDP won from this seat after receiving 41, 605 votes. Koram Kanakaiah, of Indian National Congress came second after securing 38,659 votes.
There are a total of 1,84,826 voters in the seat, which includes 92,015 male voters, and 92,797 female voters. In the 2018 Telangana elections, Yellandu recorded a voter turnout of 82.09%. In 2014 the turnout was 79.81%.
